Our love story...

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?

We have been together almost 12 years.

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}

When I was a Jr in college my best friend from elementary school and I were living together.  I had recently bought a computer and was in a chat room talking when this young Marine sent me a message.  We started talking and soon realized that his child hood best friend and my roommate were actually cousins.  We talked on the phone that night, and made plans for him to come home that weekend and we would go on a date (his hometown was about an hour from where I lived and he was stationed at MCAS Beaufort).  Two days after we started talking he called to tell me he was on the way home because his mom had been hit by a drunk driver and was in serious condition, and they did not know if she would make it.  He came to see me late that night and we have pretty much been together ever since.  We met in April, got engaged in June, and were married August 18, 2000, 18 days after he was honorably discharged from the Marines.
3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}

12 years in August

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding? If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?

VERY small, we eloped just the two of us to Helen, Ga

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!

I have all kinds of names for him, haha, the nice ones are Babe and Ryan-o.

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.

1. He loves me unconditionally, even with all my craziness!
2. He is a great father and loves our children.
3. He is man that loves God.

7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?

We were coming back from a family reunion at the lake and were driving down the interstate.  He pulled over on the side of the road (at night) and asked me to get out and dance with him.  I thought he was CRAZY, but I did it anyway.  We danced to "Your Everything" by Keith Urban.  Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and I grabbed my ring before I finally said yes!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?

Neither, he used to give me a rose for every year we have been together, but I told him I would rather have the money to buy other things.  Since this year would be a dozen roses I am kinda hoping I will get surprise at work,
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?

Sunset dinner on the beach, LOVE the beach!!

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?

Not really sure, I love to go on road trips with him, have never flown myself. If I could work up the nerve to fly I would love to go to Hawaii.

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.

Nothing on the actual day, but we are going out Sat. night, and he is surprising me.

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?

I want some Sanuks, I am in love with them!!

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.

COMPROMISE!!! At first we were not very good at that, but as the years have gone on we have learned to compromise and go with the flow. It's just not worth it sometimes to fight over the little stuff.

14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.

Guard weekends

I am missing my hubby.  I know he is only gone for the weekend, but I miss having him around.  It is too quiet in the house right now. The boy child is outside playing with his cousin and the the girl child is at her cousins house.  I am sitting her watching Days of our Lives from the week, and missing my hubby, who if he were here would be making fun of me.

So to make the missing a little better me and the girl child are going to get a pedi this afternoon, and hopefully the boy child will behave long enough since I have no one to leave him with.  It is great having Gma and Papa next door except on days they are gone riding on the Harley.  Guess it will just be me and the kiddos today, but at least the hubby will be home tomorrow.  Oh and tomorrow is the boy child's Children's Church program, let's hope he behaves and sits still!

Tired just tired...

I am exhausted! School this year is wearing me out.  Sometimes I feel like I am ramming my head into a brick wall.  I feel that we as teachers are pushed so hard to make sure that "No Child is Left Behind", that we the teachers are leaving our own sanity behind.  It's hard when you feel like you are trying your very best, and everything you do is not enough.  It is frustrating when you have students who don't care, and cause issues with the students in the class who do care...UGH! I love my job really, I love seeing my students learn new things.  I love to see that Aha moment when it finally clicks, and those moments make it all worth it.

So....for the next 77 school days I will plug along and keep doing my job for the best of my ability, at least Spring Break is only 37 school days away! :-)
