It's been a while....

Just wanted to check in and update a little.  Alexas started 6th grade a few weeks ago, and Landon started kindergarten.  My babies are growing up so fast!! So far they are both doing very well.  I started my 9th year of teaching, only 21 more years to go! :) Ryan is still dealing with the Army and their never ending process of hurry up and wait.  He was finally released to work in June, but can't do his job do to his shoulder, so he is being stuck in another job that he used to do.  In 2 weeks he will find out exactly what he can expect as far as his recovery and job, and hopefully whether he will be released from the Army or if he will be able to stay in.  On the weight loss front I started Plexus Slim almost 3 weeks ago, and I am down almost 5lbs.  I maintained over the summer, so now I am at a total loss of almost 25lbs.  I am going to share some photos we had taken this summer.

I hate anxiety!!!

I really really hate anxiety!!!! It literally makes me sick to my stomach. I hate the feeling of helplessness and being ready to crawl out of my skin. I hate that it limits what I can do and where I can go. I hate this feeling!!!

Catching up....

Just a quick post to do a little catch up! I am still working hard on the weight loss and am down 18lbs!! YAY!!  I have 2 more lbs to my first goal of 20 which I had hoped to reach by my brother's wedding on April 5th, so it is looking like I may just make it yet! YAY! Then 199 here I come!!

Life continues to be busy and crazy! Ryan is having another surgery on his shoulder on Wed.  We continue to impatiently wait on the Army to send us the back pay they off us, but don't worry they are quick to take any money they think we owe them.  We are one week from Spring Break and are all ready for it!

Week 2 weight loss

Not much weight loss this week, but I can see a difference from doing Zumba! I have gone to Zumba Monday and Tuesday this week, and plan to go again tomorrow.  Sunday we went for a walk as a family, which made it a pretty short walk with 2 wild kiddos!! I have been staying under my calorie goal most days, so hopefully I will be seeing a difference in my weight loss goals soon!!

Weight Loss journey

Week 1 is in the books and went pretty well! I did great with tracking my eating, and I managed to lose 4lbs! YAY! This week I am started doing Zumba a couple days a week, and I am going to try to walk on the days I don't do Zumba.  I am still HUNGRY most of the time, but I am not starving, haha!  My stomach is just slowly adjusting to the change in my eating habits.  I am still eating the foods I like, just in smaller portions.  The myfitnesspal app is really helping me track what I eat and how much I exercise.  This week I am trying to increase my water intake as well.

Beginning weight 230
Lost this week     -4
Current weight     226

1st Goal is 199, I am getting there!!!

The dreaded "D" word.....

...DIET....such a four letter word!

So since I am determined to make the weight loss happen this time and not to get discouraged I thought blogging about it might help.  I officially started yesterday when I went back to work.  I downloaded the MyFitnessPal app on my iPhone, and I am using it to track my progress.  According to it my goal calories for each day is a little less than 1500 calories.  The past 2 days I have been under my goal, but dang have I been HUNGRY!! I can't help it, I LOVE FOOD!! And not just any food, the fattening bad for you kind.  I love sweets and carbs and bread! I do eat some veggies, but I am pretty picky about them.  I am trying to make more of an effort to control my portions and eat more fruits and veggies.

I also need to get off my behind and get MOVING doing some sort of exercise.  The thing with me and exercise is I love the thought of it, but never really carry through! I started Couch to 5k and quit after a week because it hurt my ankles too much.  I join a gym and go consistently for a few months and then quit going even though I signed a year contract.  I recently saw they were going to be offering Zumba classes locally, and you pay monthly so no contract! I am thinking that may be something I can stick with.  I REALLLLLLY wish I enjoyed running more than I do because it sounds so relaxing when people take about it, but even back in my high school days when I played softball and basketball I HATED running any distance other than around the bases or up and down the court!

I am going to try to blog weekly or biweekly with my progress and hopefully that will keep me accountable.  Here is my before picture (from Sept. 2012 but I look the same).  Hopefully the after picture will be a much smaller me!!

New Years Resolutions?

Do you have any? I always make them and never stick with them. Usually they have to do with losing weight or getting in shape. Let's pray that this year is the year it sticks! I have got to lose some weight!!! My brother is getting married in April and I would like to be at least 20lbs less by then. My first goal is to lose 31lbs which will put me at my pre-pregnancy weight.

So what are your resolutions?

You might be a teacher if...

HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU’RE A TEACHER? By Jeff Foxworthy

You get a secret thrill out of laminating things.
You can hear 25 voices behind you and know exactly which one belongs to the child out of line.
You walk into a store and hear the words, “It’s Ms./Mr. ____________ and know you have been spotted.
You have 25 people who accidentally call you Mom/Dad at one time or another.
You can eat a multi-course meal in under 25 minutes.
You’ve trained yourself to go to the bathroom at two distinct times of the day, lunch and planning period.
You start saving other people’s trash, because most likely, you can use that toilet paper tube or plastic butter tub for something in the classroom.
You believe the Teacher’s Lounge should be equipped with a margarita machine.
You want to slap the next person who says, “Must be nice to work 7 to 3 and have summers off”.
You believe chocolate is a food group.
You can tell if it’s a full moon without ever looking outside.
You believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says, “Boy, the kids are sure mellow today.”
You feel the urge to talk to strange children and correct their behavior when you are out in public.
You believe in aerial spraying of Ritalin.
You think caffeine should be available in intravenous form.
You spend more money on school stuff than you do on your own children.
You can’t pass the school supply aisle without getting at least 5 items!
You ask your friends to use their words and explain if the left hand turn he made was a “good choice” or “bad choice.”
You find true beauty in a can full of perfectly sharpened pencils.
You are secretly addicted to hand sanitizer.
You understand, instantaneously, why a child behaves in a certain way after meeting his/her parents.

Here are some photos from our fun decorating gingerbread men tonight!

Why??

Why??? That is the question that keeps ringing in my head today.  Why did someone feel the need to take the life of others? Why did someone go in to a place where children should feel safe, and take their lives? Why should these families have to suffer at Christmas thanks to the cowardly act of someone else? WHY?

As I sat in my classroom reading the reports of this horrific shooting today I was thankful that my students were safe.  I was thankful that my children were happily enjoying the Christmas festivities at their school.  I was thankful that even though the students make me mad as fire some days, that they were safely enjoying movies and time with friends today.

So tonight I will hug my babies a little tighter and pray for the family and friends of the victims in CT.  I will also pray for all students and employees of the school and the terror that they will never be able to forget.
